The Farm

Set amongst a beautiful mountainous scenery Valle Sol covers 607 hectares of hilly landscape, consisting of green fertile valleys and fresh water streams. Half of that area has very productive grassland to raise cattle. The rest is where rocks, wild forest and hilltops fusion into a breath taking landscape.

Holi cow! We farm holistically for a fertile flora and fauna.

We manage our land resources following Allan Savory ́s Holistic Management practices of our natural resources for some years. We see some incredible changes in the soil and grass health around our ranch, and also the return of different varieties of flora and fauna which were not present in this area.

Valle Sol is often visited by people who are interested in seeing this transformation. We welcome their visits and interest so that we can inspire others to do the same. Our cattle is moved from area to area imitating the way animals behaved when they were free to roam for forage. We have chicken tractors for soil fertilising. These chicken modules are rotated daily on our grasses so that the birds have fresh grass every day. We sell broilers as part of our production.

Our farm produces:

  • beef and lamb meat
  • wool
  • broilers
  • chicken bone broth
  • paté
  • eggs
  • yogurt
  • butter
  • marmalades

There are three main buildings in the farm: The main house; an old remodeled, stoned-wall house with all the modern amenities. A guests’ house with some extra exterior bedrooms and large sheds across from the main house. There is a third house for workers.

In the main house, we have one large formal living room with a poised dining space. Our kitchen is spacious, and we often eat most of our meals centred in this cozy space. Adjacent to the kitchen is an informal living room that consistently has the fireplace going during the winter evenings. Located next to the informal living room are four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and a toilette.

A gorgeous courtyard is centered in the middle of the ranch home. One side serves as a BBQ area and the other is a full brick pizza oven. There are lovely areas to sit and bask in the sun. Nestled around the courtyard are many fruit trees for all to enjoy.

Brangus

In 2013 we started breeding Brangus cattle and a year later we settled our own Pedigree Breeding Ranch (Cabaña Aiguambaé) of this synthetic breed without horns, which has a 37.5% (3/8) of Brahman blood and 62.5% (5/8) Angus blood.

Benefits

Brangus offers an unequalled combination of Brahman hardiness and Red and Black Angus beef quality with tremendous benefits as follows:

  • Hardiness.
  • Adaptability.
  • Heat tolerance.
  • Insect resistance, specially ectoparasites (ticks).
  • Disease resistance.
  • Efficiency under most management styles, whether forage- or feed-based.
  • Ability to thrive in some of the harshest conditions.
  • Longevity.
  • Early maturity.
  • Exceptional calving ease
  • Good survival rate
  • Superior mothering instincts
  • Milking ability
  • Fast growth High yield of meat
  • No excessive fat
From the very beginnig, artificial insemination and embryo transfers were used, selecting females and herd sires (either home-raised or purchased) which reflect the ideal phenotypic and genotypic traits sought in their offspring.
Exhibits
In our short life, we have participated in several National and Local Provinces Cattle Exhibits, obtaining important distinctions:
Our goal is to keep growing, improving our Genetic Pool day by day, maintaining our current clientele and future customers, commitments of responsibility in the fulfillment of strict norms of business ethics, to provide products of the highest quality.

Other Animals

Horses, as well as the dogs, are our working companions. There is a milking cow. We use her milk for making fresh cream, butter and sometimes cheese. Hens and one rooster have their pen near our guests’ house. Geese roam freely around the property. Margarita, the lonely donkey, stays around our main gate and loves it when someone scratches her in the head. A small flock of sheep and lambs graze nearby the house to stay away from possible hungry bores roaming around. Out in the fields, cows, bulls, and calves eat fresh grass freely.
